Do you want an opportunity to meet with some of New Zealand’s major public sector organisations to talk about your products and services?

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) together with its partners have organised a Meet the Buyer event to be held on August 29th in Auckland.

This free event offers small to medium sized businesses the opportunity to promote their business to senior government ‘buyers’ from 20 of the largest government organisations. The event provides the ability for you to meet with up to five potential future clients.

Event Details:

When: Thursday 29 August 2013, 9am – 5:30pm

Where: Aotea Centre, Auckland

Applications are now open. Click here for more details. Applications close 5pm 2nd August.

How does it work?

Well, it’s like speed dating but between businesses and government agencies.

Imagine a large café filled with agency buyers. Every 15 minutes a set of businesses sit down at the tables and have short meetings with the agencies.

Similar to any other café, with prearranged meetings organised before the event based on mutual interests.

  1. Each of the invited agencies has defined their interests – some are broad, others are specific. Some have immediate needs, others are simply checking out the market for new suppliers to meet future needs.
  2. Businesses who believe they could meet those needs and who are interested in meeting one or more of these agencies complete a simple online application; including their preferences for which agencies they’d like to meet. There’s a few rules:
    • This event is all about exploring new relationships – you need to select agencies you don’t already have a relationship with;
    • You only have a maximum of 1500 characters (250–300 words) in your application to make an ‘elevator pitch’ – so make sure you keep things simple.
  3. Each participating agency then identifies the businesses they’d like to meet with once registrations close on August 2nd. All successful businesses will receive an email advising them of whether they’ve been selected to take part in the event.

To apply, go to  http://www.procurement.govt.nz/ and click on Meet the Buyer to fill out a simple online application.
